The cricketing spotlight is set to shine on Dubai as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) gears up to host the highly anticipated ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023, a youth cricketing extravaganza set to kick off on Friday, December 8.
The tournament, featuring the brightest young talents from the Asian cricketing landscape, will unfold its excitement across three distinguished venues in Dubai: ICC Academy Ground No. 1, ICC Academy Ground No. 2 and the prestigious Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In the preceding ACC Men’s Under-19 Premier Cup held in October 2023, Nepal, UAE and Japan showcased their prowess, emerging as the top three teams and securing coveted spots in the main event. Adding further intensity to the competition, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – full member teams with a rich cricketing legacy – are set to participate in the tournament.
The teams are divided into two groups: Group A comprises Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, while Group B features Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The group stage clashes promise riveting encounters as teams vie for supremacy and aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, setting the stage for high-stakes clashes leading to the pinnacle of the tournament – the grand final scheduled for December 17 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The tournament opener will witness a clash between defending champions India and the formidable Afghanistan side, the 2017 champions. The match is expected to set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling competition, offering a glimpse into the future stars of Asian cricket.
