In the aftermath of a disappointing display at the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan‘s cricketing landscape underwent a radical transformation. The once steadfast captain, Babar Azam, relinquished his leadership role, signalling the need for a fresh start. This wave of change extended beyond the playing squad, reaching the coaching and management staff.

Notably, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja, renowned for his adept mentoring that propelled Afghanistan to a commendable performance in the same World Cup, has shared his views on overtaking the coaching mantle for the Pakistan cricket team. Jadeja’s proven track record in nurturing talent and guiding a team through the intricacies of international cricket adds a compelling dimension to Pakistan’s pursuit of rejuvenation.

‘I am ready’: Ajay Jadeja

Jadeja expressed his readiness for the mentorship role of the Green Team and shared his insights with the Afghan cricket team. Drawing a parallel, he noted that Pakistan’s cricketing culture was once akin to Afghanistan’s, where open communication and direct discussions among teammates were the norm.

“I am ready. I shared my learnings with Afghans and I believe Pakistan were once like Afghanistan. You could say anything you wanted to on the face of your teammate,” Jadeja said while quoting on coaching Pakistan during a conversation on Sports Tak.

Masood’s leadership brings a fresh perspective, and the Asian side is eager to showcase their skills and resilience on the field.

The Perth Stadium, known for its lively pitches, will test both teams’ mettle, and the Asian cricketing nation will determined to perform commendably under their new skipper’s guidance. The series promises riveting cricket action as these two cricketing giants lock horns in a battle of skill and strategy.
