As the IPL auction 2024 approaches, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the bidding wars, with dynamic all-rounder Rachin Ravindra emerging as a notable focal point. The young talent has thrown his hat into the ring with a modest base price of INR 50 Lakhs, setting the stage for what promises to be an intriguing auction.
Amidst this enthusiasm, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has added an insightful perspective by expressing his opinion on the team that could strategically benefit from acquiring the 24-year-old’s services.

Talking about Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pathan noted the strong all-round performances from Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen but emphasized the importance of a backup opener for the side. He suggested that having Rachin in the playing XI could provide valuable support in both batting and spin-bowling departments, making him a crucial target for the team in the upcoming IPL auction.
“If they have two all-rounders going really well as far as batting is concerned in Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen, they can actually play with the playing XI. A backup opener is very, very crucial for them and that is why they need to go after Rachin Ravindra big time,” Pathan said while reviewing the IPL auction on Star Sports.

‘They need a bit more than that’ : Irfan Pathan
Pathan further emphasized Sunrisers’ need for a reliable wicket-taking spinner in their squad. He pointed out the absence of Adil Rashid, mentioned that despite having Mayank Markande, the team requires additional strength in the spin-bowling department.
“Ideally, they would like to have a proper spinner who is a wicket-taker. They had Adil Rashid, they don’t have his services now. Obviously, they have Mayank Markande but they need a bit more than that,” the 39-year-old added.
