Senior Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, currently steering the ship for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been grappling with personal challenges that transcend the boundaries of the cricket field.

Dhawan recently revealed that it has been a year since he last saw his son Zoravar in person. The cricketer’s estrangement from his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, adds a layer of complexity to his personal life, making the distance from his son even more heart-wrenching.

Blocked from connecting with Zoravar

In a surprising revelation, Dhawan disclosed that he has been blocked from all virtual platforms that once served as a bridge to his son. Despite legal mandates for visitation rights, the virtual blockage intensifies the emotional strain between father and son.

Notably, the Delhi court’s decision to grant Dhawan a divorce on grounds of “cruelty” marked a legal resolution but did little to ease the personal pain of being separated from his son. The court had mandated visitation rights, yet the cricketer finds himself unable to connect virtually with Zoravar.

Shikhar Dhawan’s emotional birthday wish

On Zoravar’s birthday, Dhawan took to Instagram to pen an emotional note. Expressing pride in his son’s growth, Dhawan used the occasion to convey his enduring love and anticipation of a future reunion. The post also shed light on the use of telepathy as a means of connection in the absence of direct communication channels.

“It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so Posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday. Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely,” wrote Dhawan on his Instagram post.

Encouragement amidst the distance

Dhawan’s birthday message went beyond mere wishes, offering heartfelt advice to Zoravar. The cricketer urged his son to embody qualities of humility, compassion, patience, and strength. Despite the physical and virtual distances, Dhawan remains actively engaged in his son’s life, sending daily messages and seeking updates.

“Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong,” the Delhi-born cricketer expressed.

“Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life. Love you loads Zora. Papa,” Dhawan added further.
