New Zealand Women registered a thrilling one-wicket victory over Pakistan Women in the second ODI of the three-match at Hagley Oval on Friday, December 15.

Pakistan Innings

After winning the toss, New Zealand Women opted to bowl first. The Pakistani innings saw ups and downs, with Sana Fatima‘s impressive 90 and contributions from Natalia Pervaiz (39) and Najiha Alvi (32). However, a determined bowling effort from Sophie Devine (3 wickets), Molly Penfold (2 wickets) and Fran Jonas (2 wickets) restricted Pakistan to a total of 220 in 50 overs.

In response, New Zealand Women faced early setbacks, but Suzie Bates (74) and Maddy Green (83) anchored the innings, guiding their team to the brink of victory.

Despite late wickets and an impressive bowling performance by Ghulam Fatima (4 wickets), New Zealand managed to reach the target with one wicket in hand, courtesy of a thrilling knock by Maddy Green.

Maddy Green’s outstanding performance with the bat earned her the Player of the Match award. With this victory, New Zealand Women went 2-0 up in the series.

The next encounter between the two teams is scheduled for Monday (December 18) at the same venue.
