In the lead-up to the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan, Australian captain Pat Cummins has disclosed the playing XI that will don the baggy green at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Fast bowler Scott Boland has to warm the bench

Addressing the media in Melbourne on Sunday morning, the Australian captain confirmed that Victorian standout Scott Boland would be absent from the second Test of the three-match series, as the team management opted to keep the same lineup as the opening Test in Perth.

“We’re huge fans of Scotty, it’s very rare you’re going to get through seven Test matches with the same quick bowling line-up,” Cummins said as quoted by Fox Cricket. “There’s always niggles or things that pop up, so he’s ready to go if anything happens.

“I’m sure he’ll play a part at some point, but the message is always we absolutely love what you bring, unfortunately you miss out on this one, but don’t change, keep working hard and make sure you stay ready,” added Cummins.
