England pace sensation Jofra Archer is set to sit out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, adding to a series of setbacks he has faced throughout the year due to a persistent elbow injury. The fast bowler’s last professional appearance dates back to May 2023, and despite joining the England squad as a reserve player for the ODI World Cup, Archer’s ongoing struggle with pain has compelled him to forego participation in the IPL.

Why Archer didn’t register for IPL 2024 Auction?

As per the latest development, Archer has not submitted his name for the IPL 2024 auction. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reportedly advised Archer against entering the auction, emphasizing the importance of managing his workload ahead of the impending T20 World Cup.

Notably, the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup is scheduled to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 4 to June 30, 2024.

With more than 1100 names, including 34 England players, registering for the IPL 204 Auction scheduled in Dubai on December 19, Archer’s absence adds to the intriguing dynamics of team compositions as franchises gear up for the bidding war.
