In a shocking turn of events during the Legends League Cricket (LLC) Eliminator between Gujarat Giants and India Capitals, former India teammates and cricket stalwarts Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth engaged in a heated on-field altercation.

The incident occurred after Gambhir struck Sreesanth for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries, prompting a visible reaction from the pacer. After the over concluded, both players were involved in a verbal spat, with Parthiv Patel and on-field umpires intervening to separate the two.

Despite the on-field drama, Gambhir managed to score 51 off 30 balls, contributing to India Capitals’ total of 223/7 in 20 overs. Sreesanth, on the other hand, took 1/35 in three overs. Gujarat Giants fell short in their chase, posting 211/7 in 20 overs and losing by 12 runs.

S Sreesanth opens up on the altercation

After the match, Sreesanth took to his official Instagram account to shed light on the incident and make serious allegations against Gambhir. According to Sreesanth, Gambhir had verbally mocked him during the game, using disrespectful language and triggering the exchange.

In a video message, Sreesanth stated, “Just wanted to clear the air with what happened with Mr. Fighter. One who always fights with all his colleagues. For no reason whatsoever. He does not even respect his own senior players, including Viru Bhai. That’s exactly what happened today. Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me something which was very rude which shouldn’t have been said by Mr. Gautam Gambhir.”

Sreesanth puts serious accusations against Gautam Gambhir

Sreesanth went on to express his hurt and disappointment, emphasizing that he was not at fault and highlighting Gambhir’s behaviour as unacceptable. The Kerala pacer vowed to reveal the details of the words used by Gambhir and indicated that the incident had deeply affected him and his family.

“What Mr. Gauti has done, sooner or later all of you will get to know. The words which he used and the things he said on a cricket field, live, is not acceptable. My family, my state, everybody has gone through so much. I fought that battle with all your support. Now people want to down me for no reason. He said things he shouldn’t have said. I will surely let you know what he said,” Sreesanth asserted.

Gambhir doesn’t respect his own colleagues

In the same video, Sreesanth expressed his dismay at Gambhir’s lack of respect for his colleagues, even senior players. The Kerala cricketer even claimed that Gambhir tends to ignore and discuss something else whenever he is asked about Virat Kohli.

“What’s the point of representing people if you don’t respect your own colleagues? Even in broadcasting when he is asked about Virat, he never speaks about him. He speaks about something else. I don’t want to go further in detail. Just want to say I am very hurt and my family is hurt and my dear ones are hurt. And the way he said things…. I haven’t used a single bad word or a single abuse, nothing. He just kept on saying words which he always does.”
