The auction for the seventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in the desert city of Dubai on December 19.
Heading into the auction, Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will have Andy Flower as their newly appointed head coach and Mo Bobat as a new technical director.
Despite boasting some of the most prominent T20 stars in their lineup throughout the years, the Challengers have encountered challenges in clinching the elusive championship title. However, they reached the IPL final three times, i.e. in 2009, 2011 and 2016).

Notably, RCB will enter the bidding event with a remaining purse of INR 23.25 crores.
According to Mayanti, here’s a closer look at the players on RCB’s radar:
1. Mitchell Starc: The Australian pace sensation Mitchell Starc is known for his lethal left-arm pace and ability to deliver match-winning performances. On her Instagram video, Mayanti suggested that RCB might consider acquiring Starc to bolster their bowling department. The left-armer has already represented the franchise in two seasons, where he picked 34 wickets in 27 matches.
2. Gerald Cortzee: A rising star in the world of cricket, Gerald Cortzee has been making waves with his performances in domestic cricket. Mayanka believed that the young South African pacer could be a valuable addition to RCB’s fast bowling lineup and captain Faf Du Plessis will definitely have his eyes set on his countryman.
3. Shahrukh Khan: Labeled as one of the exciting uncapped players, Shahrukh Khan has been recognized for his explosive batting in the middle order. Mayanti opined that RCB might aim to secure Khan’s services as he can add firepower to their middle order along with Glenn Maxwell.
4. Wanindu Hasaranga: The Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been a consistent performer, especially in the T20 format. Mayanti stated that RCB might once again rope in Hasaranga into their squad and this time at a reasonable price.
As the IPL 2024 Auction approaches, the speculations and analyses continue, with fans eagerly awaiting to see how RCB shapes their squad for the upcoming season.
