Soumya Sarkar propels Bangladesh to a competitive total

Bangladesh’s innings was highlighted by a sensational century from Soumya Sarkar, who played a stellar knock of 169 runs off 151 balls. Sarkar’s innings was a masterclass in strokeplay, featuring an impressive 22 fours and 2 sixes. Despite his heroic efforts, the New Zealand bowlers, led by Jacob Duffy and William O’Rourke, maintained their composure and took crucial wickets to limit Bangladesh’s total.

Duffy was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand, claiming three wickets, while O’Rourke matched his performance, also taking three crucial wickets. Adam Milne, Josh Clarkson, and Adithya Ashok chipped in with a wicket each, contributing to Bangladesh being bowled out for 291 runs.

Batters shine as New Zealand seal the series

Chasing a target of 292 runs, New Zealand’s batters displayed exceptional form, securing a comfortable victory by reaching 296/3 in 46.2 overs. Will Young played a pivotal role in the chase, crafting a well-compiled innings of 89 runs. Henry Nicholls also provided strong support with his sensational knock of 95 runs, steering New Zealand towards victory.

The Bangladesh bowlers struggled to contain the New Zealand batters, with Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud being the only wicket-takers, claiming one wicket each. Despite their efforts, New Zealand’s batters dominated the proceedings, and Tom Latham’s side secured a convincing 7-wicket win.

While Sarkar’s century went in vain, New Zealand’s overall team effort, especially with the bat, solidified their dominance in the series. With this win, the Black Caps have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.
