The global cricketing scene is ablaze with anticipation as cricket enthusiasts eagerly prepare for the highly-awaited second edition of the International League T20 (ILT20), which is set to kick off on January 19 in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It is noteworthy that this year’s tournament promises to be even more thrilling as it has been granted List A status by the International Cricket Council (ICC), marking a historic milestone for the T20 league governed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).

A Glimpse of ILT20 2023

The inaugural edition of ILT20, held last year, witnessed intense competition and culminated with the Gulf Giants clinching the coveted title. The tournament’s standout performer was none other than Chris Jordan, who earned the Player of the Series accolade for bagging remarkable 20 wickets. The success of the inaugural season has set the stage for an even more exciting and competitive ILT20 2024.

List A status: A landmark achievement

The announcement of ILT20 receiving List A status is a momentous occasion in the cricketing world. This is the first time that a T20 league, organized by the board of an associate nation, has been granted such recognition by the ICC. The elevation to List A status signifies the league’s growing prominence and further solidifies its place on the international cricketing calendar.

This ensures a gripping and closely contested competition between all the participating teams, namely Desert Vipers, Gulf Giants, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, MI Emirates, Dubai Capitals, and Sharjah Warriors, as each squad passionately vie for the prestigious title.

The league boasts an impressive lineup of star players, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding ILT20 2024.
