Shoaib Akhtar, the legendary Pakistani cricketer whose blistering pace terrorized batters around the world, has seamlessly transitioned from the cricket pitch to the commentary box, captivating audiences with his candid analysis and engaging persona.

In a recent rapid-fire round, Akhtar opened up about his personal favorites, offering fans a fascinating glimpse into his tastes beyond the boundary ropes. Akhtar was interviewed alongside Saba Karim, the former India wicketkeeper, during the pre-match chat show in ILT20 2024 by host Ridhima Pathak.

Akhtar, renowned for his express pace and fiery bowling, revealed that his favorite cricketer is none other than the Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. Notably, Tendulkar’s remarkable achievements and iconic status in the world of cricket have earned him admiration and respect from players across the globe, including rivals like Akhtar.

In the realm of Bollywood, Shoaib Akhtar expressed his fondness for two prolific actors. Initially naming Hrithik Roshan as his favorite, Akhtar later added Shahrukh Khan to the list, acknowledging him as a global superstar. Akhtar praised Hrithik for his versatility and charisma on screen.

“I think the guy who has done a wonderful role and very different roles, I think he doesn’t get the credit for it, Hrithik Roshan,” said Akhtar.

Soon Saba interrupted and asked about Shahrukh to which Akhtar quickly responded and termed the King Khan as a global star. He said: “Shahrukh isn’t a local star, he’s a global star.”

Akhtar shares his admiration for Madhubala

Akhtar’s admiration extended beyond contemporary stars to include legends of Indian cinema. He mentioned Madhubala, the timeless beauty and iconic actress of Bollywood’s golden era, as one of his favourite actresses. Additionally, Akhtar expressed his appreciation for Katrina Kaif, one of the leading actresses in present-day Bollywood, known for her grace and talent.

Favourite city: India’s financial capital

When asked about his favorite city, Akhtar promptly named Mumbai. The bustling metropolis, often referred to as the heart of Bollywood, holds a special place in Akhtar’s heart, reflecting his deep connection with the Indian entertainment industry and the vibrant culture of Mumbai.

Favourite co-commentator: The batting maestro

In the domain of cricket commentary, Akhtar revealed his preference for former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag as a co-commentator. Known for his witty remarks and insightful analysis, Sehwag’s camaraderie and rapport with Akhtar likely contribute to their seamless collaboration in the commentary box.
