As the cricket fraternity has started gearing up for the T20I World Cup 2024, the speculations about the Indian camp have taken new heights. Various fans and cricket pundits are busy presenting their analysis and predicting the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, particularly in T20Is and the upcoming World Cup. Amid the ongoing drama, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has shed light on the importance of having the seasoned duo onboard for the upcoming extravaganza.
Irfan Pathan’s thought on value of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Pathan emphasized the importance of having Kohli on the field with the side, citing his recent exceptional performances in the recent IPL and T20I formats. He underscored the value of experienced players like Kohli and Rohit, especially in unfamiliar pitch conditions in countries like West Indies and the USA.
“Personally, I would like to see Virat on the pitch because when we talk about two years back, definitely he was not in his best form. But the last IPL and T20 were one of the most amazing tournaments for him. Also, when you are playing in countries like West Indies and the USA, there are quite a few unknown pitches, and here you will need experienced players like Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both on and off the field,” Pathan said while speaking on Star Sports.
