Virat Kohli‘s unexpected withdrawal from the ongoing England’s Test tour of India has triggered a wave of discussions within the cricketing fraternity. Various voices are chiming in with their opinions on the absence of the prolific Indian batter. Among them, veteran England cricketer Stuart Broad has recently shared his perspective on this significant development.
As the cricketing world grapples with the implications of Kohli’s non-presence, Broad’s insights add a layer to the ongoing dialogue, contributing to the broader conversation surrounding the dynamics of this high-profile series.
Stuart Broad on Virat Kohli’s absence
Broad expressed his disappointment over Kohli’s absence from the series, acknowledging the stalwart’s quality and passion. Despite recognizing the significance of personal matters taking precedence, the former seamer highlighted the opportunity for young players to step up in the Indian batting lineup, confident that someone would seize the chance to make an impact.
“It’s a shame for the series that he will be missing but India have won the last Test. Kohli is such a quality player, his passion, his fire, but obviously personal matters always take precedence. But it gives a great opportunity to young players also. So someone in the Indian batting line-up will stand up at some stage,” Broad was quoted as saying to IANS.

Broad on Bazball
Broad expressed his admiration for ‘Bazball’ and its success across different countries. Despite the series being level at 1-1, he particularly commended Hyderabad’s performance as the most impressive display by the England team. The Nottingham-born emphasized that ‘Bazball’ is not just a playing style but a mentality propelling the game forward, citing successful outcomes in various cricketing nations.
“I love it. The series is one-all (1-1) at the moment, but I think ‘Bazball’ has proven that it can work in every country. I think Hyderabad’s performance is the most impressive performance of the England team. We won in Pakistan 3-0, we played well in New Zealand. So ‘Bazball’ is a mentality that is driving the game forward,” the 37-year-old added.
