Michael Clarke names the best all-format player
Choosing the ultimate all-format player among these esteemed individuals is undoubtedly challenging. However, former Australian captain Michael Clarke recently shared his perspective on this matter. During an episode of the Around the Wicket show on ESPN, Clarke was tasked with ranking the Fab Four.
While Clarke refrained from assigning a definitive order, he singled out Kohli as the foremost all-format player. However, the former Aussie captain also acknowledged Smith’s supremacy in Test cricket, indicating him as his preferred choice in that format.
“That’s a tough one. I’m probably putting Steve Smith at the top of the tree. All four are getting in my team, there is no doubt about it, they can bat anywhere they want. Kane Williamson’s record’s phenomenal. I think he scored 6 hundreds in his last 8 or 10 outings. Virat Kohli across all three formats is the best player but in Test I probably got Steve Smith number one and then take your pick for two three four. Virat Kohli will be number one across all three formats if I could pick only one player,” said Clarke.
