The world of cricket is a realm of endless debates and discussions, especially when it comes to determining the best batter and the greatest captain. Recently, Indian pace sensation Mohammed Shami shared his insights on these intriguing topics, shedding light on his choices for the best batter and the greatest India captain.

It is worth mentioning that Shami, who had a stellar campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023, is currently sidelined due to injury but continues to make progress under rehabilitation.

Mohammed Shami picks the best batter in the world

In a recent conversation with News18, Shami did not hesitate to name Virat Kohli as the best batter in the world. The right-arm seamer emphasized Kohli’s incredible record-breaking spree and acknowledged his unmatched prowess with the bat. Shami’s admiration for Kohli goes beyond the statistics, as he recognizes the Indian captain’s ability to consistently deliver outstanding performances across formats.

Shami names the most dangerous batter

While acknowledging Kohli’s excellence, Shami reserved the title of the most dangerous batter in the world for Rohit Sharma. Known for his explosive batting style and ability to turn the game in an instant, Sharma has been a consistent performer at the top of the order for India.

“Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. He has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best but if you ask me who the most dangerous batter in the world is, I would say Rohit Sharma,” said Shami.

Shami reveals his choice for the greatest India captain

When it came to determining the greatest India captain, Shami initially highlighted the difficulty of comparisons but eventually settled on the iconic MS Dhoni. Drawing attention to Dhoni’s unparalleled success, Shami emphasized that the measure of greatness ultimately boils down to achievements.

“It’s different for everyone. Everything comes down to comparison. Obviously you will go with the person who is most successful. So, I’ll go with Mahendra Singh Dhoni because whatever he has achieved, no one has been able to eclipse that,” the star India pacer added.

Notably, Dhoni is the only captain to secure victories in all three major ICC tournaments, including the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, and ICC Champions Trophy, which stands as a testament to his leadership prowess.
