PSL 2024 [WATCH]: Shaheen Afridi bowls a lethal toe-crushing yorker to dismiss David Willey

The seventh match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans was a rollercoaster of emotions, offering cricket enthusiasts a thrilling spectacle at the Multan Cricket Stadium. While Iftikhar Ahmed‘s explosive batting stole the show for Multan, Shaheen Afridi’s bowling brilliance added another layer of excitement, particularly his lethal yorker that dismissed David Willey.

Rassie van der Dussen shines for Lahore Qalandars

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Lahore Qalandars posted a competitive total of 166/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Rassie van der Dussen‘s fluent knock of 54 runs off 37 balls and Fakhar Zaman‘s 41 runs off 36 balls were the standout performances. Despite facing some resistance from Multan Sultans’ bowlers, with Mohammad Ali leading the charge with two wickets for 28 runs, Lahore Qalandars managed to set a challenging target.

In response, Multan Sultans exhibited a spirited batting performance, achieving the target with five wickets in hand and one over to spare. Captain Mohammad Rizwan played a pivotal role, anchoring the innings with an outstanding 82 runs off 59 balls. Iftikhar’s explosive cameo of 34 runs off 11 balls further propelled Multan Sultans towards victory.

The Lahore Qalandars’ bowlers displayed commendable prowess, particularly highlighted by Shaheen and Zaman Khan, who each claimed two wickets. Despite their determined performance, it couldn’t thwart Multan Sultans from clinching the victory. Nevertheless, Shaheen’s exceptional yorker, leading to Willey’s dismissal, emerged as a significant highlight and topic of discussion in the match.

Shaheen Afridi’s lethal yorker to David Willey

It all happened in the 18th over when Shaheen unleashed a pinpoint yorker against Willey. The delivery tailing in late proved too much for the Multan batter to handle, as he failed to get his bat down in time. The ball struck him on the boot, resulting in a painful blow. Willey soon fell on the ground in agony after the blow, and the umpire swiftly raised the finger, signaling a leg-before-wicket (LBW) dismissal.
