West Indies cricketer Fabian Allen encountered a distressing incident when he was reportedly attacked and robbed at gunpoint outside the Paarl Royals team hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa. West Indies cricketer faces terrifying gunpoint robbery
According to reports from Cricbuzz, the assailants brandished a gun, confronting Allen near the Sandton Sun Hotel. In the course of the incident, they forcibly took his phone and other personal belongings, including a bag. However, it has been confirmed by a Cricket West Indies (CWI) official that Allen wasn’t physically harmed during the ordeal.
“Our head coach, Andre Coley, also hailing from Jamaica, reached out to Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any,” an unnamed CWI official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

A valuable allrounder for the West Indies
Allen, a skilled left-arm spinner and a valuable contributor in the lower order, has represented the West Indies in 20 ODIs and 34 T20Is. Known for his ability to control batter in the middle overs, Allen has showcased his prowess with a T20I economy rate of 7.43.
SA20 performance and recent form
Despite his reputation, Allen has faced a dip in form during the ongoing SA20. With a highest score of 17* in the six innings he has batted, coupled with modest bowling figures, Allen found himself excluded from the XI after the match against the Durban Super Giants last month.
The SA20 playoffs kick off from today, with the Super Giants facing the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Qualifier 1 in Cape Town. The Royals, featuring Allen, will be in action tomorrow in the Eliminator match against the Joburg Super Kings in Johannesburg.
