In a commanding display of skill and determination, Team India asserted their dominance on Day 3 of the third Test against England at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Led by opener Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s scintillating century, the hosts ended the day with a substantial lead of 322 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hits third Test century

Yashasvi, continuing his impressive form, notched up his third century in Test cricket, guiding India to a position of strength. Despite the early loss of captain Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal, alongside Shubman Gill, took charge and dismantled the English bowling attack. His innings was marked by resilience and aggression, reaching the milestone of 104 runs before retiring hurt due to back spasms. Meanwhile, Gill remained unbeaten on 65 at the close of play, further solidifying India’s position.

Mohammad Siraj shines with the ball

India’s bowlers also excelled, spearheaded by Mohammad Siraj‘s brilliant performance. Siraj’s four-wicket haul restricted England’s first innings, providing India with a crucial lead of 126 runs. Despite the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian bowling attack remained potent, with Kuldeep Yadav also making significant contributions, claiming two wickets during the morning session.

England’s resistance crumbles

England, in response, struggled to counter India’s bowling prowess. Although Ben Duckett‘s impressive innings of 153 provided some resistance, the English lower order faltered quickly. Jasprit Bumrah‘s dismissal of Joe Root and Kuldeep’s sharp spin led to crucial breakthroughs, while Ravindra Jadeja and Siraj capitalized on England’s vulnerability to wrap up their innings at 319 runs.
