In a thrilling finale to the SA20 2024 tournament, Sunrisers Eastern Cape emerged victorious with a commanding win over Durban Super Giants. The final, held at Newlands in Cape Town on February 10, showcased a display of exceptional cricket from the defending champions, who secured their second consecutive title in style.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Sunrisers Eastern Cape put up a formidable total of 204 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Tom Abell and Tristan Stubbs were the standout performers with the bat, scoring half-centuries with finesse and guiding their team to a commanding position.

Clinical bowling display restricts Durban Super Giants

Chasing a challenging target of 205 runs, Durban Super Giants struggled to counter the formidable bowling attack of Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The Orange Army’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, restricting the Super Giants to just 115 runs in 17 overs. All-rounder Marco Jansen starred with the ball, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul to dismantle the opposition’s batting lineup.

“It’s a second cup. Back-to-back, two in a row. So glad, so happy. Best performance by the team with the bat and the ball. They have been dominating this whole season, and to finally get this through—I mean, it’s unbelievable to be winning it (title) back-to-back. So happy for the guys; everyone put up a great show. Very strong team that we played today, but happy to have the win at the end of the day,” said Kavya in a video shared by SRH Fans official on X.
