In the second T20I of the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2024, Bangladesh secured a convincing victory over Sri Lanka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to 165/5 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka’s innings saw contributions from Kusal Mendis (36 runs), Kamindu Mendis (37 runs), and Angelo Mathews (32 runs). However, it was not enough to propel their team to a formidable total. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar each picked up a wicket.

In response, Bangladesh chased down the target with ease, reaching 170/2 in just 18.1 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the star performer for Bangladesh, scoring a brilliant 53 not out off 38 deliveries. He was well-supported by Litton Das (36 runs) and Towhid Hridoy (32 not out). Sri Lanka’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Bangladeshi batters, with Matheesha Pathirana being the only bowler to take wickets, claiming 2 scalps.

As a result of their comprehensive victory, Bangladesh clinched the match by 8 wickets, levelling the series 1-1. Najmul Hossain Shanto was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
