After a stellar performance with the ball on the opening day, where India dismissed England for 218, they began their innings with confidence. Rohit, leading from the front, showcased his batting prowess yet again, notching up his 12th Test ton by the lunch break. This marked Rohit’s 12th Test century, his second in the ongoing series against England.

Accompanying Rohit in the batting masterclass was Gill, who exhibited remarkable composure and skill en route to his magnificent century. Gill’s fourth Test century, came off just 137 deliveries, highlighting his aggressive intent and fluent strokeplay. The duo’s formidable partnership not only steadied the Indian innings but also propelled them to a commanding position, with a lead of 46 runs till lunch.

Rohit reached his milestone century with a composed single off 154 balls, while Gill, displaying his attacking flair, brought up his hundred with a boundary.
