In Mumbai Indians (MI), the seasoned partnership of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will add depth to their batting lineup. Aakash Chopra’s top pick for IPL 2024 best opening pair
Renowned cricket analyst Aakash Chopra has expressed his belief that the opening partnership of Jaiswal and Buttler for the Rajasthan could be the standout duo in the upcoming IPL 2024.
Chopra is optimistic about Jaiswal’s impressive form, anticipating another prolific season for the young Indian batter. As the Royals aim to break their trophy jinx, Chopra sees Jaiswal as a key contributor to their quest for a second IPL title. He also emphasized the added advantage of Buttler’s recent good form in SA20 2024, making the Jaiswal-Buttler pairing one to watch in the tournament.
“When you head into a tournament with such confidence, you bat at a different level, which he did last year as well, but will do with more maturity this year, I feel Rajasthan’s opening combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler is amazing. It could be ranked No. 1. I am saying that firstly because of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s current form. It means his 600-plus IPL season is almost loading,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“Along with him Jos Buttler, who had a very ordinary season last year. After that, he did well in the SA20, and for how long will you keep Buttler quiet?” the 46-year-old concluded.
Rising dominance of the pair in IPL
The partnership between Buttler and Jaiswal for the Rajasthan has witnessed a remarkable ascent, establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with. The dynamic duo, comprising the extravagant England veteran and the emerging Indian talent, has consistently dominated opposing bowling attacks. Their synergy has laid a solid foundation for the Royals, providing crucial impetus to the team’s middle-order, led by the explosive skipper Sanju Samson.
Stellar performance in the last two editions
Buttler’s stellar performances in the last two IPL editions have been nothing short of spectacular. Accumulating an impressive 1,255 runs at an average of 43.3 and a striking rate exceeding 145, Buttler has been a key contributor to the team’s success. On the other hand, Jaiswal has not lagged behind, amassing 883 runs at a phenomenal rate of 153.3, with an impressive average of over 40. Their individual records highlight their prowess and complementarity as an opening pair.
