Rajasthan Royals (RR) made a remarkable entrance into the Indian Premier League (IPL) by clinching the title in the inaugural edition of 2008, led by the legendary Shane Warne. Their victory, overcoming the formidable Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final, marked a historic achievement for the franchise.
Struggles in recent years
However, the journey since that initial triumph has been challenging for the Rajasthan. Despite their early success, they have encountered significant hurdles. In subsequent seasons, the team has found it difficult to replicate their championship form. In 2022, they reached the final but faced defeat against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT), failing to reclaim the trophy.
Continual challenges and opening match
Last season presented further challenges for RR as they fell short of securing a spot in the top 4, despite boasting a lineup featuring stellar talents such as Jos Buttler, Ravichandran Ashwin and Sanju Samson. Rajasthan are set to commence their campaign in the upcoming season against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday (March 24) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
