Riyan Parag began his resurgence as a player in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a significant quick-fire knock for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their tournament opener. Parag’s innings proved pivotal, contributing to Rajasthan’s formidable score of 185/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In the closing over, he dominated Delhi’s pacer Anrich Nortje, hammering him for 25 runs, which included 3 boundaries and 2 maximums.

As Parag started to leave his mark in the tournament, Mumbai Indians (MI) star player Surya Kumar Yadav shared an insightful revelation about Parag. Commending Parag for his stellar IPL performance, Surya praised him on his official social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He recounted an incident at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, highlighting Parag’s disciplined recovery approach. Suryakumar also mentioned a conversation with one of the coaches, noting the positive transformation he witnessed in Parag’s demeanour.
“Met a guy at NCA few weeks ago. He came with a slight niggle. Completely focused on his recovery and with great discipline working on his skills. And I was not wrong to tell that to one of the coaches there ‘He is a changed guy’ RIYAN PARAG 2.0. Watch out,” Surya Kumar wrote.

Avesh Khan’s heroic last over seals the win for Rajasthan Royals
Parag’s remarkable contribution bore fruit as Rajasthan regsitered their second consecutive victory of the season, defeating Delhi by 12 runs. Despite Tristan Stubbs‘ impressive unbeaten 44 off 23 balls, the hosts managed to limit Delhi to 173/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In a tense finale, Rajasthan pacer Avesh Khan successfully defended 17 runs in the last over of the match, sealing the win for his team.
