The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season commenced with a flurry of exhilarating encounters, showcasing the competitive spirit and cricketing prowess of the participating teams. Within the initial three days of the tournament, each team has already been tested in the crucible of high-stakes cricket, with some emerging victorious while others tasted the bitterness of defeat. As the tournament unfolds, the winning sides are eager to build upon their early success, while the defeated teams are determined to learn from their setbacks and bounce back stronger in subsequent fixtures.

Tom Moody singles out the most well-structured team in IPL 2024

Despite the tournament being in its nascent stages, esteemed cricket analyst and former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach, Tom Moody, has already singled out one team for its exemplary organization and strategic acumen. In a virtual session hosted by the “Star Sports Press Room,” Moody lauded the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for their well-thought-out game plans and disciplined on-field execution. He particularly commended captain Sanju Samson for his stellar batting performance, which played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph.

“It’s still very early days in the tournament, but just the snapshot of what I have seen over the weekend, Rajasthan Royals look very well-organised. The way they employed their impact substitute was very clever On the field, they were practically very, very sound. Their captain Sanju Samson scoring runs is a real tick for them, so for me, they look very organised,” Moody said.

Dominant start

Rajasthan made a resounding statement in their opening match by outclassing the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), led by the formidable KL Rahul, securing a convincing victory with a 20 runs margin. Samson’s scintillating innings, comprising 82 runs off just 52 deliveries, underscored his leadership and batting prowess.

Youthful talent shines

Moody also heaped praise on the Rajasthan management for providing requited backing to young talents like Riyan Parag, whose dynamic batting display further bolstered the team’s morale. Parag’s solid knock of 43 runs in 29 balls, including four fours and three sixes, further contributed to Rajasthan’s triumph over Lucknow Super Giants.

“It was great to see Parag do well because there’s been a lot of scrutiny on him over the past couple of years. He was given a lot of opportunities and people have questioned his place in the playing eleven. But clearly RR have decided that this is the season, on the back of the domestic season, that we will elevate him to the top of the order. They want him to own that position as they got power-hitters like Hetmyer, and others to do the finishing job. Maybe the timing of his injection at number four is very good because he’s in-form and has now got a lot of experience in the IPL,” the 58-year-old concluded.

Interesting contest ahead

Looking ahead, Rajasthan are set to square off against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the iconic Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday. Delhi will  enter this crucial encounter on the back of a disappointing loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their tournament opener, highlighting the urgency for them to regroup and rediscover their winning formula in the upcoming clash against Rajasthan.
