In a gripping encounter at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy Bandra Kurla Complex, Tamil Nadu‘s skipper, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, delivered a bowling masterclass during the 2nd semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2024 against Mumbai. Despite Tamil Nadu’s disappointing batting display in the first innings, where they were bundled out for a mere 146 runs, Sai Kishore’s exceptional bowling turned the tide in their favor.

Five-star performance by Sai Kishore

Sai Kishore produced a scintillating spell, claiming five crucial wickets for his team. The left-arm spinner’s performance was a testament to his skill and temperament as he dismantled Mumbai’s top-order, conceding fewer than 30 runs in the process. His ability to vary his pace, exploit angles, and maintain a tight line and length kept the Mumbai batsmen guessing throughout his spell.

Key dismissals

Sai Kishore’s victims included the experienced campaigner and former India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who fell for 19 runs. The star spinner then got rid of the well-set Musheer Khan, who was batting brilliantly at 55 (131). Additionally, he accounted for the dismissals of Bhupen Lalwani (15), Mohit Avasthi (2), and Shams Mulani (0), displaying his knack for breaking partnerships and creating pressure.

Venkataraghavan and Aashish Kapoor as only the third player to reach the milestone of picking up 50 wickets in a single season.
