Fifty on IPL debut

Fraser-McGurk introduced himself to the IPL with a dazzling half-century, scoring 55 runs off 35 balls. His innings included 3 fours and 5 towering sixes, showcasing his power-hitting capabilities. His explosive batting helped Delhi chase down the target set by LSG in just 18.1 overs, securing a comfortable victory with 6 wickets in hand.

Delhi Capitals claim 2nd win of the season

Lucknow Super Giants posted a competitive total of 167/7 after opting to bat first, with Ayush Badoni providing a solid late-order contribution. However, it wasn’t enough to thwart the efforts of Delhi Capitals, who executed a well-rounded chase.

Delhi’s victory was bolstered by contributions from captain Rishabh Pant, who scored 41 runs, and opener Prithvi Shaw, who added 32 runs. Additionally, bowler Kuldeep Yadav‘s exceptional performance in the first innings, taking a brilliant 3-wicket haul, earned him the Player of the Match award.

Early life

Fraser-McGurk was born on April 11, 2002, in Victoria. He went to Carey Baptist Grammar School until the end of his tenth year and then completed his final two years of schooling at SEDA College. He began playing junior cricket at the age of 9 for Boroondara Cricket Club.

How it all started

Fraser-McGurk made his first-class debut on November 12, 2019, representing Victoria in the 2019–20 Sheffield Shield season. Just five days later, on November 17, 2019, he made his List A debut for Victoria in the 2019–20 Marsh One-Day Cup. Impressively, the right-handed batter scored a half-century in both his first-class and List A debuts.

U19 World Cup dreams shattered

Notably, in December 2019, the talented batter earned a spot in Australia’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Unfortunately, he had to depart the tournament prematurely after being scratched by a monkey during a team outing to a nature reserve.

BBL debut

Fraser-McGurk made his T20 debut on December 12 2020, when he appeared for the Melbourne Renegades, in the 2020–21 season of Australia’s premier T20 tournament – Big Bash League (BBL). In that season, Fraser-McGurk scored 127 runs in 10 games at a strike-rate of 106.72.

Overtaking AB de Villiers

The young batter shot to fame with a stunning performance for South Australia against Tasmania in the Marsh Cup, breaking a record held by South African cricket legend AB de Villiers. In that game, Fraser-McGurk hammered the fastest century in List-A cricket, reaching the milestone in just 29 balls. This incredible feat surpassed the previous world record held by De Villiers, who scored his hundred in 31 balls against West Indies in 2015.

Debuting for Australia

Following the decision to rest experienced all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, Fraser-McGurk was selected for Australia’s ODI squad for the home series against the West Indies. He made his debut in the second ODI against the Caribbean team in Sydney, scoring just 10 runs off 5 balls, which included hitting a six.
