Curran on Punjab Kings game plan
Despite the setback, Curran displayed leadership qualities. He explained that Punjab would have preferred bowling first but will now focus on putting up a strong batting performance. He expressed faith in the team’s middle-order, particularly the in-form batter Shashank Singh. Curran also announced the revised playing XI, with Atharva Taide replacing the injured Dhawan at the top of the order.
“We would have bowled first as well, but we’ll now have to put the runs on the board. The balance has been good, we’d have liked to win a few more games, but the middle-order looks good, especially Shashank and Ashutosh. We’ve got exciting players and plenty of quality. We’ve Taide coming in for Shikhar tonight,” added Curran.
Punjab Kings playing XI:
Jonny Bairstow, Atharva Taide, Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran (captain), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada
