Rajasthan Royals (RR) are flying high in IPL 2024, currently sitting at the number two spot on the points table with three convincing wins in their first three matches. Today, they are facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and looking to extend their winning streak.
Playing for a Cause: The Pink Promise
Beyond their on-field success, the Royals are making a social statement with their special pink jerseys for today’s game. This initiative, called the ‘Pink Promise,’ is dedicated to empowering women in Rajasthan and across India.
The pink jersey boasts a beautiful bandhani pattern, a traditional Rajasthani tie-dye art form commonly seen in women’s attire. It also incorporates artwork depicting solar panels, symbolizing the clean energy solutions being provided to rural women in Rajasthan.
For every six hit by either team during the match, the Rajasthan franchise will power six homes with solar energy. Furthermore, all proceeds from sales of the pink jerseys will be donated to their foundation. The franchise has also pledged an additional ₹100 for every ticket sold for the ‘Pink Promise’ match.
Rajasthan Royals opts to bowl first
After winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson decided to bowl first, keeping in mind the appearance of dew later in the game.
“We would like to bowl first on this wicket. Something to do with the opposition, it’s a fresh wicket, expecting some help for the seamers and expecting some dew as well. It’s a long season, people are taking responsibility and finishing games. We are going in with the same team,” Samson said at the toss.
