Surya Kumar’s remark on not facing Jasprit Bumrah
Despite Surya Kumar’s pyrotechnics with the bat, the coveted Player of the Match accolade was clinched by his MI comrade, Jasprit Bumrah, for his awe-inspiring bowling spectacle. Bumrah unleashed a barrage of precision deliveries upon the RCB batting lineup, wreaking havoc with his devastating spell of 5/15 in four electrifying overs. In a lighthearted post-match interview, the 33-year-old playfully remarked on Bumrah’s menacing bowling prowess, quipping that he had avoided facing the speedster in recent years, fearing that Bumrah might either dismantle his bat or inflict injury upon his toes.
“It’s been almost 2-3 years since I batted against him (Bumrah) in the nets, because he either breaks my bat or breaks my foot,” Surya Kumar said.

Team’s objective to bolster net run rate
Reflecting on the pulsating contest, Surya Kumar lauded openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma for laying the groundwork for victory, asserting that post the initial overs, the team’s singular objective was to swiftly seal the win to bolster their net run rate. With a titanic clash against arch-rivals, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), looming large on the horizon, MI will aim to harness the momentum from their latest triumph and carry it forward into their forthcoming showdown on April 14.
“It’s always good to be back at Wankhede, when the tournament started I was mentally here only, although physically in Bangalore (recovering from the injury), it felt like I never left. When you are chasing 200, it is important to know the dew factor and take your chances, both Rohit and Ishan did the job for us at the 10th over mark and we only knew that we had to finish early for that net run rate thing,” the Mumbai-born cricketer concluded.
