During Sunday’s IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, Ravi Bishnoi, the mystery spinner of LSG, made a game-changing move by grabbing a blinder to dismiss GT batter Kane Williamson.

This all happened in the 8th over of the second innings. The catch quickly grabbed fans’ attention and went viral on the internet. After the match, LSG shared a video featuring Bishnoi and Jonty Rhodes where the South African veteren explained the secret behind the catch.

Bishnoi’s bowling magic unfolded with a stunning catch to send back Williamson packing. The LSG spinner sent down a quick, in-drifter fullish length delivery at 97.7 kph. Williamson, attempting an on-drive, ended up hitting the ball in the air. Bishnoi, showcasing exceptional reflexes, grabbed the ball with his outstretched hand.

The official IPL channel celebrated the moment by sharing a video, titled: “If you don’t go, you’ll never know. The secret recipe to taking blinders, just like Ravi Bishnoi took one yesterday!”

The fielding coach of LSG praised Bishnoi by saying, “Someone like Ravi, he exhausts me, he never misses a single day of practice. If we are at the ground, he will take catches every single day. So, he works hard on his bowling, also works on his batting, but when it comes to fielding, he will never sit in the dugout or never hide in the dressing room.”

Rhodes complimented Bishnoi for taking a stunner off his own bowling. He admired Bishnoi’s ability to react quickly and snatch the ball mid-air, especially considering the short time frame. Rhodes pointed out that Bishnoi went backwards in his follow-through, giving himself more time to react instead of the usual approach of lunging sideways towards the ball with stiff hands.

Rhodes then asked Bishnoi what was going through his mind during that split-second decision. Bishnoi explained that he wasn’t thinking and reacted instinctively, He saw the ball coming towards him and realized he might be able to make the catch. Finally, in a light-hearted remark, Rhodes jokingly compared the size of his hands to Bishnoi’s, acknowledging that Bishnoi didn’t have particularly large hands but emphasizing the importance of taking a chance.

The charisma of Yash Thakur

While Bishnoi’s fielding stole the show, another LSG player emerged as a star with the ball. Yash Thakur, the fiery pacer, wasn’t content just playing a second fiddle. He unleashed a scorching bowling performance, tearing through the opposition’s batting lineup. His impressive spell yielded five wickets for 30 runs in his four overs.

Yash dismissed Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed, registering the second-best figures by any LSG bowler on their home ground. Mark Wood‘s spell of 5/14 still tops the chart.
