LSG claims thrilling victory from CSK
After being asked to bat first, CSK set a formidable target of 211 in their 20 overs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led the charge with a magnificent unbeaten century, scoring 108 runs off just 60 balls at a blistering strike rate of 180. Notably, he became the first CSK captain to achieve this feat. Shivam Dube provided valuable support with a fiery knock of 66 runs off a mere 27 balls, boasting a strike rate of 245. His innings included 3 boundaries and a staggering 7 sixes. Dhoni finished the innings with a flourish, smashing the last ball for a four.
LSG’s chase got off to a shaky start, finding themselves at a modest 45/2 after the powerplay overs. However, a crucial partnership of 70 runs between Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran steadied the innings. Unfortunately, Pooran’s dismissal in the 17th over added some pressure. Yet, the Australian all-rounder, Stoinis, shouldered the responsibility and single-handedly carried LSG to victory. His magnificent century (124 runs off 63 balls) included 13 boundaries and 6 towering sixes. Remarkably, LSG chased down the target with 3 balls to spare, securing a thrilling win for the team. Stoinis’ exceptional performance was rightfully rewarded with the Player of the Match award.
