The Delhi Capitals (DC) dominated all facets of the game (bowling, batting, and fielding) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). After restricting LSG to a modest total of 167 runs, DC chased down the target comfortably in just 18 overs. However, their dominance was briefly challenged in the 4th over when David Warner suffered an unfortunate dismissal.
David Warner’s unlucky dismissal
Warner managed only 8 runs off 9 balls for the DC before his dismissal. He attempted a pickup shot off the good-length delivery from Yash Thakur in the 4th over, but the ball struck his pads before clattering the stumps. DC were 24/1 at the time of Warner’s dismissal.

Rishabh Pant and Jake Fraser McGurk partnership crushes LSG hopes
After restricting LSG to 167 runs on the back of Ayush Badoni‘s fiery 55 off 35 balls, DC got off to a decent start in their chase, reaching 62/1 after the powerplay. However, the dismissal of Prithvi Shaw put some pressure on DC. Captain Rishabh Pant and debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk then rose to the occasion, stitching together a crucial partnership of 77 runs. McGurk impressed with a knock of 55 off 35 balls, while Pant chipped in with a quickfire 41 off 24 deliveries. Their partnership steered DC to a comfortable victory and shattered LSG’s impressive record of winning all their previous matches while defending targets of 160 or more.
