Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) etched their name in the annals of cricket history on Tuesday with a remarkable feat at Chepauk Stadium. In the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were tasked with batting first and managed to post a formidable total of 210 runs for the loss of four wickets, largely due to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s impressive knock of 108 runs off 60 balls, supported by Shivam Dube’s quickfire 66 off 27 deliveries.
In response, LSG delivered a stellar performance, with Marcus Stoinis leading the charge with an outstanding innings of 124 runs off just 63 balls, complemented by Nicholas Pooran’s brisk 34 off 15 balls. They successfully chased down the target with 3 balls to spare and still had 6 wickets in hand.
LSG fan outshines the CSK crowd
Despite the overwhelming presence of CSK fans flooding the MA Chidambaram Stadium in their signature yellow attire, a solitary Lucknow Super Giants fan stood out amidst the disappointed faces. Caught on camera amidst the disheartened CSK supporters, this fervent LSG fan was seen jubilantly dancing and celebrating their team’s remarkable victory. The video swiftly went viral on various social media platforms.

LSG recreates history
In their debut season in the lucrative league, the Super Giants had clinched victory over the Super Kings in a manner strikingly similar to their recent encounter. In the 7th match of IPL 2022, hosted at Brabourne Stadium in Maharashtra, LSG won the toss and elected to bowl. CSK then posted a total of 210 runs, which LSG successfully chased down with 3 balls to spare and won by 6 wickets, mirroring the circumstances of their recent match in IPL 2024.
Reacting to this remarkable coincidence, LSG took to social media and posted the scorecards of both the matches.
