In a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), MS Dhoni‘s frustration towards an IPL cameraman surfaced amidst an impressive display by his team’s batters, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, against LSG.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube’s stellar partnership
In a highly anticipated match of the IPL, CSK hosted LSG at Chepauk. KL Rahul elected to bat first, and the CSK captain, Ruturaj, returning to his opening role, aimed for a strong start during the powerplay. After losing a couple of wickets in the middle overs, Dube partnered with Gaikwad to wreak havoc on LSG’s bowling attack. Gaikwad notched his season’s maiden century, while Dube quickly reached a half-century, forming a formidable 104 runs partnership for the fourth wicket in just 47 balls.

MS Dhoni’s displeasure towards IPL cameraman
Amidst the excitement, an IPL cameraman turned his lenses towards CSK’s fan-favorite, Dhoni, who was waiting his turn while witnessing Dube and Gaikwad’s stellar performance. However, Dhoni’s demeanor turned sour as he expressed frustration towards the cameraman, gesturing threateningly and appearing ready to toss a bottle towards him once his visuals were displayed on the big screen. Shortly after the occurrence of this incident the camera shifted its focus back to the match proceedings.
Although the specific reasons behind Dhoni’s outburst remain unknown, the cameraman likely intended to capture snapshots of the cult leader for the fans’ enjoyment. Despite the incident, Dhoni eventually stepped onto the field with just two balls remaining in the first innings, contributing a boundary off the final delivery to conclude the innings on a high note for his team, leading them to a formidable total of 210/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten knock leads LSG to victory
Nevertheless, fortunes took a downturn for the home side as LSG, led by Marcus Stoinis‘ unbeaten knock of 124 runs from just 63 balls, which included 13 boundaries and six towering sixes, achieved the target with 2 balls to spare, winning by six wickets. Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda also played remarkable cameos, supporting Stoinis without pressure. This defeat marked CSK’s fourth loss in eight games, and they are now set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 28.
