Hosts Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) emerged victorious against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets in Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Friday.

CSK posts 176/6 on the scoreboard

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Super Giants’ decision seemed vindicated as they restricted the Super Kings to a competitive total of 176/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite contributions from Ravindra Jadeja (57 off 40) and a blazing cameo from MS Dhoni (28 off 9), CSK’s innings lacked the desired acceleration.

LSG’ bowlers put up a commendable performance, with Krunal Pandya (2/16) being the pick of the bowlers.

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock give LSG a solid start

In response, LSG chased down the target with ease, finishing at 180/2 in just 19 overs. The chase was anchored by stellar performances from their opening pair, Quinton de Kock (54 off 43) and KL Rahul (82 off 53), who displayed exquisite strokeplay to take their team over the finish line.

The Super Kings’ bowling unit struggled to contain the onslaught, with Matheesha Pathirana (1/29) and Mustafizur Rahman (1/43) being the only wicket-takers.

LSG skipper KL Rahul was adjudged the Player of the Match for his scintillating knock.
