In a one-sided affair at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a comfortable victory by 8 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Mitchell Starc shines with the ball

Opting to bowl first, KKR bowlers led by the lethal Mitchell Starc (3/28) restricted LSG to a below-par total of 161/7. Openers Quinton de Kock (10) and KL Rahul (39) couldn’t capitalize on their starts, while only Nicholas Pooran (45) managed to break free with a late flourish. Sunil Narine (1/17) and Varun Chakaravarthy (1/30) also chipped in with economical spells.

Phil Salt takes KKR home

Chasing a modest target, KKR openers Phil Salt (89) and Narine (6) got off to a flying start. While Narine departed early, Salt continued his onslaught, smashing 14 boundaries and 3 sixes in a belligerent 47-ball knock.

Captain Shreyas Iyer (38) played a composed innings, stitching a crucial partnership with Salt to lay the foundation for victory. Eventually, KKR chased down the target with 4.2 overs to spare, losing just two wickets.
