Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a resounding nine-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in a one-sided affair of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday. Top-order batters Virat Kohli and Will Jacks were the architects of this dominant win, stitching together an unbeaten 166-run partnership to chase down the target of 201 with a staggering 24 balls to spare.

While Kohli anchored the chase with a well-paced 70 not out, it was the pyrotechnics of Jacks that stole the show. Jacks played the role of aggressor, taking a backseat to Kohli initially before exploding in the later stages. The turning point came in the 11th over, as Jacks unleashed his power-hitting prowess. Mohit Sharma‘s 15th over felt the brunt of his fury, with Jacks amassing 29 runs (2 fours, 3 sixes) from it.

However, it was the next over from the wily Rashid Khan that truly etched Jacks’ name in the headlines. In a display of audacious strokeplay, Jacks plundered 29 runs off Rashid, reaching his maiden IPL century in the process. The carnage included a boundary and a staggering four sixes, leaving even the ever-composed Kohli in disbelief.

Jacks continued his onslaught, sealing the win with a towering six off the final over. This emphatic victory showcased the destructive potential of Jacks, who finished unbeaten on a magnificent 100 (41 balls, 5 fours, 10 sixes).

Earlier, Gujarat Titans, after being put in to bat, posted a respectable 200/3 on the board, thanks to fifties from Sai Sudharsan (84 not out) and Shahrukh Khan (58). However, their efforts were overshadowed by the brilliance of RCB’s batting display. With this win, RCB have announced their resurgence, while Jacks has emerged as a player to watch out for in the remaining IPL.
