In an exciting encounter during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The standout moment of the match was a stunning delivery by MI’s ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled out PBKS batter Rilee Rossouw with a breathtaking inswinger.
Jasprit Bumrah’s moment of brilliance
The key incident occurred on the fourth delivery of the second over. Bumrah delivered a fuller-length ball that swung sharply inwards. Rossouw, attempting to play a drive, was caught off guard as his footwork seemed stuck at the crease. The inswinger beat Rossouw for pace and swing, shattering his off-stump and sending him back to the pavilion.

MI’s strong batting performance
Earlier in the game, MI had set a competitive total of 192/7 in their innings. The star of the batting lineup was Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a superb 78 runs off 53 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes. Other notable contributions came from Tilak Varma (34 not out off 18), Rohit Sharma (36 off 25), and Tim David (14 off 7), all of whom played crucial roles in boosting MI’s total.
Suryakumar Yadav reflects on season’s performance and game strategy
Surya acknowledged the ups and downs he has faced, viewing them as a part of life and focusing on his progress. He emphasized the importance of one batter playing 15-16 overs to stabilize the innings and admitted he took a bit more time at the crease, especially after Rohit’s dismissal, to bat deeply. Additionally, he commented on the absence of dew, which favored the team’s score and believed their total is well above par for the conditions.
“That teaches you there are ups and downs in life (on his scores this season). It is going really, I am almost there, I have started fielding and training, hoping I will be on the field for the whole 40 overs. Nothing much (on his celebration), there was a batters meeting and we spoke about a batter batting for 15-16 overs, took a little more time today but once Rohit got out, someone had to bat deep. There hasn’t been dew and if that is the case then it is way above par,” said Suryakumar during the mid-innings break.
