Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran celebrated wildly as opener Travis Head took apart Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowling attack at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.
SRH owner Kavya Maran’s celebratory reactions goes viral
Head, acquired for a hefty INR 6.80 crore in the 2024 IPL auction, lived up to the hype with a brutal 39-ball century, the fastest for SRH and fourth quickest in IPL history.
The southpaw unleashed a torrent of boundaries, smashing nine fours and eight sixes on his way to a blazing ton. He reached the landmark with a four off Vijaykumar Vyshak, raising his bat and helmet in a subdued celebration. However, his stay was cut short in the next over as Lockie Ferguson dismissed him for a well-made 102 off 41 balls. The entire Chinnaswamy crowd rose for a standing ovation, acknowledging Head’s brilliance.
Head’s power-hitting set the tone for SRH as they surpassed their own record for the highest IPL total. Earlier this season, they posted 277/3 against Mumbai Indians (MI). This time around, they smashed a mammoth 287/3 against RCB, rewriting the record books.

RCB falls short by 20 runs
While RCB’s chase started brightly, even outscoring SRH in the powerplay with 79 runs, they eventually fell short. Virat Kohli (42 off 20) and Faf du Plessis (62 off 28) provided early impetus, but it was Dinesh Karthik (83 off 35) who truly kept RCB in the hunt. Despite his heroics, RCB finished with 262/7, agonizingly close to their highest ever IPL total of 263/5, set against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2013.
