The 15th match of IPL 2024, played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium saw the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)  and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the exciting contest, LSG emerged victorious by 28 runs.

Nicholas Pooran stuns Mayank Dagar with a direct hit

During the game, a sensational throw by Nicholas Pooran in the 18th over of the first innings electrified the crowd. Stationed well outside the inner circle, Pooran unleashed a rocket throw that struck the stumps directly, catching Mayank Dagar halfway down the pitch and effecting a crucial run-out.

LSG register second consecutive win in IPL 2024

LSG posted a competitive total of 181/5 runs after being asked for bat first. Quinton de Kock laid a strong foundation with a brilliant 81 runs off 56 balls. Pooran later provided a late-innings flourish with a sensational knock of unbeaten 40 runs from just 21 deliveries. In response, RCB’s batting order faltered, leading to a complete collapse. They were eventually bowled out for 153 runs, handing LSG a comfortable victory.

Mayank Yadav of LSG was awarded the Man of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance. In a spell of brilliance, he claimed 3 wickets while conceding only 14 runs. Notably, this was just his second IPL match, and he remarkably bagged the Man of the Match award in both appearances.

Pooran’s late innings onslaught puts fear in opponents

LSG found themselves in a precarious position after losing wickets following De Kock’s impressive 81-run innings. However, Pooran, batting at number 5, played a crucial knock, scoring a rapid 40 runs off just 21 balls. His innings, which included five sixes, not only saw him reach the milestone of 100 IPL sixes in just 62 innings but also propelled LSG to a defendable total of 181 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
