Left-handed batter Nicholas Pooran stole the show on Tuesday night at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with a jaw-dropping six that tied him for the longest hit of the IPL 2024 season so far.
Facing Reece Topley in the penultimate over of Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Pooran unleashed a monstrous shot that sailed a staggering 106 meters before landing on the roof of the stadium.
This incredible feat matched the effort of Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who achieved the same feat against RCB at the same venue earlier in the tournament.
Nicholas Pooran’s late blitz fuels LSG’s total
Pooran’s heroics weren’t limited to just one shot. He unleashed a hat-trick of sixes against Topley in the 19th over, showcasing his power-hitting prowess. The Windies batters six-hitting spree continued in the final over bowled by Mohammed Siraj as he added two more maximums to his tally. Pooran’s late blitz propelled LSG to a commanding total of 181/5 in their 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock provides early spark
Before Pooran’s fireworks, it was LSG opener Quinton de Kock who laid the foundation with a brilliant 81-run knock off just 56 deliveries.
It all happened after RCB captain Faf du Plessis opted to field first after winning the toss. This match also saw some changes in the playing XI of the both teams, with RCB bringing in Topley for Alzarri Joseph, while Yash Thakur replaced injured Mohsin Khan in the LSG line-up.
