Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to battle Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21). Led by Shreyas Iyer, KKR secured their playoff spot as table-toppers, despite their final two league matches being washed out due to rain, leaving them with little match practice ahead of the crucial contest.

On the flip side, Pat Cummins‘ SRH clinched their playoff berth as the second-placed team and enter Qualifier 1 with momentum on their side, having clinched a convincing 4-wicket victory in their most recent IPL 2024 outing against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

1. Manish Pandey: IPL odyssey of a centurion

Manish Pandey‘s IPL career has been marked by notable contributions across multiple franchises. He first gained prominence with an unbeaten 114 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2009, becoming the first Indian to score a century in the IPL. After playing for RCB, he joined Pune Warriors in 2011 and then moved to KKR in 2014. With KKR, he played a crucial role from 2014 to 2017, including a stellar 2014 season. In 2018, he was bought by SRH for ₹11 crore and played there until 2021. In 2024, Pandey was reacquired by KKR for ₹50 lakhs.

After a less successful stint with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2018 and 2019, he joined KKR in the 2020 IPL Auction for INR 60 lakhs.
