England Women secured a convincing 65-run victory over Pakistan Women in the second T20I of the three-match series at the County Ground on Friday, May 17.

England Women Innings

England opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a formidable total of 144/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings saw contributions from several key players, with Maia Bouchier and Alice Capsey laying a strong foundation. Bouchier scored 30 runs off 26 balls, hitting 5 boundaries, while Capsey added 31 runs off 33 balls, also with 5 boundaries.

The middle order saw Natalie Sciver accelerate the scoring rate with a brisk 31 off 21 balls, featuring 6 fours. Despite a quick loss of wickets in the middle, Danielle Gibson provided a late flurry, scoring 18 runs off just 9 balls, including 2 fours and a six, which was crucial in pushing England’s total beyond the 140-run mark. Sophie Ecclestone chipped in with 7 runs off 3 balls towards the end.

Pakistan Women Innings

Chasing 145 for victory, Pakistan struggled against a disciplined England bowling attack. Lauren Bell struck early, taking two wickets, including the key wicket of Sidra Ameen, who managed only 11 runs off 16 balls. Muneeba Ali provided a brief glimmer of hope with 18 runs off 12 balls, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Nida Dar, Pakistan skipper, could only manage 1 run before falling to Sarah Glenn. Aliya Riaz top-scored for Pakistan with 19 runs off 17 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Sophie Ecclestone was the standout bowler for England, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs in her 2.5 overs. Sarah Glenn and Alice Capsey each contributed with two wickets, further dismantling Pakistan’s batting lineup.

Player of the Match

Alice Capsey was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round performance. She scored a vital 31 runs and delivered a superb bowling spell, taking 2 wickets for just 4 runs in her 2 overs.

England’s dominant performance in this match underlined their strength and depth, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the series. Pakistan will need to regroup and strategize effectively to challenge England in the upcoming game.
