As the cricketing world gears up for the T20 World Cup 2024 set in the picturesque Caribbean and USA, excitement is palpable among fans. Teams are fine-tuning their strategies, and the admirers are eager to see which nation will rise to the top in this high-stakes tournament. Cricket pundits and enthusiasts are making their forecasts, and the predictions are stirring up a buzz.
Dominic Cork’s picks for semifinalists and finalists
In a recent discussion with a leading sports outlet, ex-England cricketer Dominic Cork shared his predictions for the global showpiece event. According to Dominic, the teams to watch out for in the semifinals are England, India, Pakistan, and Australia.
For the final showdown, Dominic envisioned an electrifying clash between Jos Buttler‘s England and Babar Azam‘s Pakistan, with England emerging victorious.
“I think England, Pakistan, India, and Australia will be the top four semi-finalists. As for the winner, I’m leaning towards England. However, I’d like to see an England vs Pakistan final again and see if England can achieve back-to-back wins like they did in Australia,” Dominic said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Impact of IPL returnees
Dominic highlighted the significance of England’s recent form, particularly with several players coming off the back of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This exposure to high-intensity T20 cricket is seen as a valuable asset for the team. Similarly, he praised Pakistan’s tenacity, especially after bouncing back from an initial setback in Ireland, crediting their robust squad led by Babar Azam and coached by Gary Kirsten.
“It’s a challenge for both teams, I think they are both strong teams, England a lot of players have come from the IPL so would have played a lot of T20 Cricket, same as with Pakistan they have come after the PSL and then they went to Ireland lost that first one, but they came back and played well, they are a very well matched side and conditions here would suit England a little bit because of the cold weather and the rain, but I think Pakistan led now by Gary Kirsten and Babar Azam, people questioning him as a captain and I think he’s an excellent captain and he’s one of the best players you can have,” added Dominic.
