In the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings update, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has notably closed the gap on India‘s dynamic Suryakumar Yadav at the top.

Babar Azam’s rise in ICC men’s T20I batter rankings

This follows Babar’s stellar performance in Pakistan’s recent series against New Zealand. Emerging as his team’s top run-scorer in a captivating series, which concluded with a deadlock at 2-2, the right-handed batter showcased his prowess by delivering a crucial half-century in the fifth T20I.

Finishing the series with an impressive tally of 125 runs across four innings Babar is now resting at the fourth position with a formidable rating of 763. This advancement places him a mere 98 points behind the reigning leader, Suryakumar. Babar’s fellow teammate, Fakhar Zaman, has also made significant strides, climbing an impressive 10 places to settle at the 62nd spot.

Notable changes within the Indian contingent

Meanwhile, within the Indian contingent, Yashasvi Jaiswal claimed the 6th spot, showcasing his burgeoning talent, while Ruturaj Gaikwad follows closely at the 11th position. Rinku Singh, who failed to secure a spot in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, finds himself at the 23rd rank. In contrast, stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma occupied the 47th and 51st spots, respectively.

Despite the reshuffling across various rankings, the landscape of all-rounders remains relatively stable, with nobody being the significant gainer in the top twenty.
