The 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 witnessed the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locking horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The match began with LSG winning the toss and opting to bowl first.
Mayank Yadav unavailable
During the toss, LSG skipper KL Rahul disclosed that their express pacer Mayank Yadav would not be participating in the crucial encounter. Rahul revealed that Mayank would be replaced by another rising pacer Yash Thakur.
“We will bowl first. I’m not a best reader of a wicket, we just like chasing. The good thing is we have been able to adapt really well and quickly to the conditions, there have been quite a few brilliant individual performances as well. There’s been a lot of talk about strike-rate, and T20 cricket has changed a lot in the last couple of years. He was injured in the last game, Yash Thakur comes in for Mayank Yadav,” Rahul said at the toss.
Reason behind Mayank Yadav’s absence
Notably, Mayank’s absence stems from an injury incurred during LSG’s recent match against the Mumbai Indians (MI). The pacer was forced to exit the field prematurely, rendering him unable to continue participating in the game.
