On Monday, Suryakumar Yadav etched his name in the annals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history at the renowned Wankhede Stadium as he became only the second Mumbai Indians (MI) batter to notch multiple centuries.
In an impressive display of skill and determination, the right-handed batter reached this milestone in just 51 balls during MI’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) led by Pat Cummins. Yadav’s remarkable achievement places him alongside MI’s former captain, Rohit Sharma, as the only other player to achieve this feat.

Suryakumar made his IPL debut in 2011 with MI. In 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquired him, but he soon returned to MI and soared to new heights in his career. Till now, he has participated in 148 IPL matches, amassing 3583 runs with a striking rate of 146. He boasts an impressive record of 24 half-centuries and 2 centuries.

Mumbai Indians secure their fourth win in IPL 2024
After opting to bat first, SRH posted a competitive total of 173/8, fuelled by Travis Head‘s 48 and Pat Cummins’ blistering 35 off just 17 balls, boasting a striking rate of 205. MI’s captain Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla claimed 3 wickets each.
In reply, MI stumbled early, losing 3 wickets within 4 overs with only 31 runs on the board. However, Suryakumar’s sensational century shattered SRH’s hopes as he notched 102 runs off 51 deliveries. His match-winning performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
