In the electrifying 62nd showdown of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC).
Among the standout performers were Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green, who dazzled with their exceptional skills. Yet, it was Karn Sharma who grabbed the spotlight with his jaw-dropping catch of Shai Hope, adding an unforgettable moment to the match’s intensity and excitement.
Karn Sharma’s diving catch
Hope misjudged the trajectory of Lockie Ferguson‘s delivery during the tenth over of the DC innings. Karn, positioned at deep mid-wicket, swiftly moved to his left and executed a perfectly timed catch. The Right-handed spinner managed to grasp the ball with remarkable agility, narrowly avoiding a potential collision with Swapnil Singh, who was converging from long-on.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat Delhi Capitals
Following Rishabh Pant‘s suspension for a solitary match, the reins of leadership have fallen to the capable hands of all-rounder Axar Patel. In the initial stages of the game, it was the stand-in skipper Axar who won the toss, electing to field first against RCB. Despite a commendable effort from the DC bowlers, limiting the home team to a total of 187 runs within the allotted 20 overs, Patidar’s explosive innings of 52 off 32 deliveries, coupled with Will Jacks‘ contribution of 41 runs from 29 balls, embellished with three boundaries and two colossal sixes, proved to be significant.
In their pursuit of the 188-run target, DC suffered a rocky start as their opening batter, David Warner, departed early. Warner fell for just 1 run, while Jake Fraser-McGurk managed to accumulate 21 runs. The dismissal of Hope further compounded DC’s troubles at a pivotal juncture of the game. Despite Axar crossing the 50-run milestone with a blistering knock of 57 runs from 39 deliveries, inclusive of three boundaries and three majestic sixes, it was not sufficient to secure victory, as DC fell short by 47 runs. Green was bestowed with the Player of the Match award for his comprehensive all-round performance, contributing 32 runs and crucially taking one wicket for the team.
